Why do you support Jennifer Brunner?
Now that there are probably some people that are actually reading this blog, thanks entirely to Secretary Brunner herself, I want to hear from you. Why do you support Jennifer Brunner as the next U.S. Senator from Ohio? Leave comments...
agree with the comments on this blog about her impressive record of reforming election laws in OH. also think she is a likely winner because she will have the female vote locked up.
Brunner is the most progressive candidate. People who think the only way to beat Portman is by nominating middle of the road boring lee fisher are wrong. Dems need a candidate that shares their values. Jennifer Bruner is the only democrat running for senate.
While I disagree with Kathy about Lee Fisher's chances statewide, I do think Brunner would inject a lot more enthusiasm into this race and would draw more national attention/money. The fact of the matter is that Rob Portman is a Bushie and will lose because of that fact alone.
I believe she will work very hard to get things accomplished. I have never met Jennifer personally, but from everything I have seen, she is a tireless worker. She also has principles that she stands for, even if they are controversial. Her principled stand on gay marriage and the death penalty are extremely important and show her strong conviction and character.
Lee Fisher is almost the complete opposite. He was against the death penalty for years until he wanted to run as Attorney General and is now for it. He has still not come out categorically for gay marriage but instead copped out and said "it shouldn't be an issue when we have a bad economy" after people called him out on not supporting marriage equality unequivocally.
I don't care about who can or will raise the most money. I care about having someone in office who represents me and my ideals. Jennifer Brunner is that candidate.

Everyone please pay attention to the above quote posted by Sec. Brunner on her Facebook page. A compassionate comment, but at the same time taking a firm stance on a, still, extremely controversial issue. Unparsed words from a strong leader is what I see.
Kudos to Secretary Brunner for not only being on the correct side of the issue, but for her strong and vocal support when it would have been politically expeditious to take a more tepid stand or to avoid the issue totally . She has earned our support and I'm proud to be "out" for Jennifer Brunner, Ohio's next U.S. Senator!
I'm supporting her because "Landslide Lee" will get stomped by Rob Portman. I had to work on the guy's campaign twice (orders from my boss), and he is one of the worst candidates I've ever seen (and I've seen Tim Hagan and Jane Campbell). He can't raise money, he's a terrible public speaker and his instincts (what to say what to do) are awful. That's why he gets stomped every time he runs.
Jennifer is bright, capable and would do a better job. Which is why it is so disturbing to see such a horrible compaign.
Fisher is killing her at fundraising. Portman has nearly $4 million more than Fisher-- and he has $1.25 million more than Jennifer. I need s seismograph to see what Buunner is doing-- and I'm not impressed by the Facebook updates. There isn't even anything for her supporters to do.
This is beginning to feel like one of Dan Brady's campaigns and if you know something about electoral politics, that is a pretty harsh assessment. I am not going to support Fisher, but I am very, very unhappy and I would like to see a pulse.
In 2006, in the wake of Ohio's troubled 2004 election process, Jennifer was elected Secretary of State, pledging elections that were free, fair, open and honest. One of Jennifer's most significant accomplishments as Secretary of State was to overhaul the operations of the troubled Cuyahoga County Board of Elections in Cleveland, ensuring a smooth 2008 presidential election. As part of an overall effort to restore trust to elections, Jennifer spearheaded a massive voting machine study to solve problems with the security and reliability of voting machines. During the contentious 2008 presidential election in which Ohio was a key battleground state, Jennifer defended Ohioans' voting rights in numerous cases in both state and federal court, eventually winning in the United States Supreme Court to protect voters and their ballots from being targeted for election challenges by partisan operatives. Her achievement in reforming Ohio's election system resulted in a markedly improved process, with a record number of Ohioans voting in 2008. Her efforts earned her a Profile in Courage Award from the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. From: jenniferbrunner.com
Lee Fisher will not win a general election against Rob Portman. Jennifer Brunner can.
